We have arrived in Canada! (Obviously this means I need an icon with a maple leaf on it or something. Or one of Benton Fraser looking particularly Mountie-ish. I have not decided yet.) We are settling in to the Mole Kingdom, and have discovered its particularly... handcrafted elements. (Seriously, does every homeowner in this city decide that any basement or attic can be renovated into a livable space with a little bit of elbow grease and drywall?) But it is spacious and cool (temperature-wise, which I'm sure will be a detriment in winter), and is a decent enough starter apartment. Marpole is surprisingly nice, and I look forward to eating my way through its main drag. We have bank accounts and more importantly, library cards. All we need now are cell phones and driver's licenses and we'll be set. I am not thinking about cleaning our old apartment because that will suck a lot.

I know you've probably seen this since I've posted this to practically every social network I belong to, but I am just so insanely amused by what happened to me today.

So Cody and I are in Vancouver scouting for apartments. So far we have seen a dank and "funky" (the landlord's words, not mine) north-facing basement suite and an apartment on Dundas with hideous peach walls, blue industrial carpet, and a disturbingly teal bathtub. I am hoping tomorrow's viewings go better.

But anyways! I was pulling onto the Drive and I accidentally cut this guy off. It was bad, I admit it, but that is not the point of this story. He pulls around me, rolls down his window, AND GIVES ME A THUMBS DOWN. A THUMBS DOWN, people! I will never get over this, and between that and the Ethiopian food I had on Broadway I think I love my soon-to-be-newly adopted country already. Happy Canada Day, y'all.

More proof that I spend too much time in Vancouver: In Supernatural, I can identify the sound of the Skytrain.

Watching 2.10 now. I like Ellen and Jo, or maybe I'm just happy to have the presence of females who aren't victims and/or sex objects. They probably won't survive, but I am glad they are around now. Angst and emopants for the boys--combined with Vancouver, MOTWs, and the alumni, it feels like X-Files. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed it.
