Holy crap y'all. Series 2 of Torchwood? So far does not suck.

Also, Ianto totally has a library and information science degree. There is no other way to account for the mad research skillz and the utterly magnificent snark.

It's definitely a lot better. Though I still stop short of calling it good.

Speaking of Torchwood: Do you ever watch [livejournal.com profile] torchwood_house? It's probably the best TW fic community on LJ, and they recently posted an interview (http://community.livejournal.com/torchwood_house/133815.html) with [livejournal.com profile] ask_captainjack that seriously cracks my shit up. Also: I am highly amused by this piece of crackish, half-assed fanart. (http://mertondingle.livejournal.com/557564.html?thread=1225212#t1225212)

After last season's epic fail (3/13 episodes I would actually watch again is pretty bad), series 2 is like fucking Stracynzski and Whedon rolled into one. For Torchwood, anyways. (And I just kind of want to squirrel Tosh away and tell her at least one person in the world besides Jack thinks she's awesome and lovable. WTF RTD. Plz give her a real boy/girlfriend/fuckbuddy.)

That en't fanart. That's picspam with shitty annotation. But still amusing.

I am pretty much in love with Tosh. Particularly sexpot!Tosh in the episode with Adam. Three cheers for cardigans left unbuttoned a little too far!

I think Tosh is an interesting example of the problem in Torchwood, where the producers' stated intent is very different from what actually happens onscreen. Tosh is sort of portrayed as the mousy, shy nerdgirl (Asian stereotypes, wut?) who is perpetually unlucky in matters of love and sex-- unlike all the other characters. And yet, Tosh has more onscreen sex than any other character in the series. Sure, she can't find The One, but empirical evidence suggests that she is more desired, by more people, than anyone else on the show. Also, for all the blustering RTD et. al. do about everyone on the show troubling gay/straight dichotomies, Tosh is the only one shown to have male and female sex partners.

Torchwood: our writing and production team is remarkably un-self-aware. Although of course, the Tosh!fail is not quite as blatant and awful as the fact that the show is about a Top Sekrit Organization WITH ITS NAME ENGRAVED ON THE SIDE OF ITS BIG HONKING SUV.

You're right: the link is picspam. But I couldn't remember the proper word for it yesterday when I sent the link. Grad school is destroying my ability to speak and/or write English.

ikr? The way Torchwood was described to me, I was expecting, like, superfluous orgies after every commercial break. And so far, the closest thing we have resembling a love triangle/quadrangle/set of points connected by a line is that weird Rhys/Gwen/Jack thing. Also, I wanted much more Jack shagging. He is so very strangely monogamous for somebody who flirts with anything with a pulse. I feel cheated, but there's nothing Jack and Ianto kissing can't placate.

Also, re: hi hi Torchwood SUV, why does it have the weird LED striping on the windshield? Because the big gigantic TORCHWOOD ON THE TOP AND SIDE wasn't enough?

I see your link and raise you this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQptF_iCfok). And this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc8RHHa_CF8).

Also, [livejournal.com profile] ask_aboutcoffee is the greatest thing ever.

Yeah, monogamous!Jack is a little weird to me. I agree that all is forgiven when Jack and Ianto kiss, though. I got into Torchwood fandom because I was hoping that fanfic writers would explore that dynamic a little more-- what happens when two people with two completely different sets of assumptions about love and sex enter into a relationship with one another? How do they negotiate? Of course, what I have in fact found is a lot of mpreg and unfounded domesticity. There are a few jewels, though.

That Skullcrusher Mountain video basically blew my mind. And I do agree with you-- [livejournal.com profile] ask_aboutcoffee is pretty awesome. I thought that the whole [livejournal.com profile] ask_captainjack phenomenon would jump the shark once others got in on the fun, but instead the win has increased exponentially.
