May. 20th, 2004 07:53 pmThe problem with having DSL is that now the phone line is free. And hence, the telemarketers get through. *sigh* I just got a call from some poor yob working for somebody (I think it was one of my credit card companies) who addressed me as Mrs. Black *insert stabbies here* I have no problem with taking Cody's last name (and indeed, Alice Black is a truly rock star name. I want to introduce myself as such and tell people I'm a long lost cousin of Frank Black. By marriage), it's just the only place I've ever used it was a rental application background check because I didn't want to fill out another piece of paper. So basically these fucktards monitored my marital status and made presumptions about what I choose to be addressed as. If that's not irritating enough, they wanted to send me complimentary (yeah, if you pay a bunch of processing fees) 36 month subscriptions to Redbook, Family Circle, and some other stupid homemaker mag I'd read only at the doctor's office. Oh, and U.S. News and World Report, because they've tried to do this to me before.
[melodrama] I've fallen into the demographic that supposedly reads Family Circle. [/melodrama] Not that I was ever hip before, but I think the world is telling me to give it up for good.
