Deanies and people considering voting for Dean: I highly recommend reading a series of articles Time has put up. (I would read them quickly, because I think you have to pay for archived articles) It's quite enlightening, especially the part about how he thinks marriage is a heterosexual institution. And the part about how the health care for children thing was financed by under-reimbursing Medicare treatment.

Dean is not the savior of the Democratic Party. He's just another fucking politican. I'm not sure which is worse.

You should have seen him squirm on Meet the Press.

I think marriage is a religious institution and shouldn't be a matter for government at all. Heteros and homos alike should only get civil unions from the government.

Kerry waded in, invoking history and religion to argue that marriage is viewed by "the body of America ... as a contract between a man and a woman." Boos and hisses. Dean, who shares the exact same position, avoided the question by joking with Donaldson about the newsman's pointed interrogation.

imho, this makes kerry and dean look worse than they really are. it's no secret that a (much too) large portion of americans still view marriage as man-woman, as i believe this was intended to mean. however, neither push for equal marriage rights. i've come to think that, despite this being one of my biggest issues, dean still does a bit for the lgbt community. the candidate i really enjoy is carol moesley-braun, but unfortunately, it'd be "throwing a vote away" and dean's my next pick. sigh. if only liberal-as-fuck dems could win.
