Um. So this happened. I've pulled out a list of features and I'm working on seeing if there's existing software that can be adapted/expanded to suit fandom purposes.

Everything is still very theoretical. There is no money behind it. Tumblr is still going to fuck us all on the 17th. But if somebody stole Jeff Bezos's or Elon Musk's change jar, we have something to build on.

So many of life's little problems could be solved by robbing Jeff Bezos blind.

Networking thought: have you tried getting in contact with <user=Denise>? She used to work for LiveJournal before founding Dreamwidth, so she probably has a good idea of the technical scope necessary for your project. She's also a huge purveyor of fandom and fanfic; I first met her when she was one of the fanfic editors at, I think, rpgamer.net. (Either that or the GIA; those were the only two sites I ever submitted fanfiction to.)

Hi! I made a post talking about costs & overall structure of NO3, complementary to the work you've done on features, and I'm linking to your document. There's also discussion going on at [community profile] post_tumblr_fandom, if you feel like using that community.
