This is iMac number two. The text display, especially at small sizes, is even worse than the last one. I'm starting to get really frustrated. There are certain people on the f-list who are going to feel bad about this, but it's not like they had anything to do with Apple's QC process. When I get my car back, I'm going to take this to the U-Village Apple Store and go through every last bit of stock if necessary until I get one with a decent display. They can't all be bad, can they?

The UVillage Apple store was closed for renovation when I stopped by there Wednesday night. They might be reopened by now, but you might want to call first if you don't already know for sure.

One thing that I have found helps a lot with text display on macs is changing the anti-aliasing setting in the display preferences to 'Standard - Best for CRT' even if you have an LCD. It makes it much, much sharper.

At least you should be able to get an iMac with Leopard on it automatically now. :)

And yet, this one came preinstalled with Tiger. There is a Leopard upgrade disc, but I was under the impression I didn't have to install it myself.

Lame.

The install is easy, though. You put the DVD in and choose "Archive and Install" and then walk away for a while. :)
