Sep. 6th, 2007 09:13 pmSpot-on about people bitching about the iPhone price drop
It was a mark of ostentation to be an early adopter, same as it is to be hauling around in a Hummer nowadays. It screams "I'm a goddamn douche with way too much money to throw around." Or a slavering fanboy with too much money. My favorite comment compares it to being forced to buy gas at $3/gallon--apparently there's no way to opt out of the system, because iPhones are essential conduits to working and living.
It's silly and ridiculous, but I am not totally unsympathetic. Being Jobsed hurts. It's one of the side effects of buying Apple products--there will always be something better that comes along. And the first time is always the worst.
The real question now for me is, first-gen possibly buggy iPod Touch with not enough memory but high shiny factor or not-so-shiny tried-and-true capacious iPod Classic? The fatty Nanos, unfortunately, are hideous. They remind me of the grunts in Halo, but not quite as cute.

Date: 2007-09-07 11:35 am (UTC)Bwahahahaha. WORD. Man, I ACT like I couldn't live without my 'pod, but seriously now, I NEED oxygen and food and stuff. Music-and/or-phone-on-the-go is a high-prio ACCESSORY.
Seconded on the "OMG DON'T" for the iPod Touch. Yes it looks pretty, but once they've worked up a second wave/gen it'll work better, be shinier AND cheaper for your shiny, and probably have morebetter accessories available (like halfway decent cases - I SAW the Apple brand nano cases, when the nano came out and they were pieces of crap. They were made of FOAM for goodness' sake!).
On an entirely unrelated note, did you get the flag I sent you? I need to know if I need to beat up Canada Post for not getting it to you.

Date: 2007-09-07 02:59 pm (UTC)Eee! Umm. Tea, please; I prefer spiced black teas and green teas, if we're getting down to things. ;) Thank you so much! Oh, and feel free to be a little slack on getting it in the mail OMG RIGHTAWAY (I'm sorry, I don't know what's going on with the caps and the made-up compound words) - I leave for a two-week road trip on the 15th and won't be back until the 29th sometime, so I won't be able to receive anything in that time frame anyway.
