Aug. 31st, 2007 06:39 pmGuess who had to haul up 70 iMacs yesterday? Me and the two wispy lab assistants, that's who. And I had to do inventory this week. Okay, so my idea of good-faith effort and the equipment office's might differ a bit, but I promise I'll do better next year.
We got 24" iMacs, which are insanely huge. Everybody who sees them is just a wee bit mesmerized--we got one early for the Linux admin (who is also a gigantic Mac geek) to do some testing on and I swear I heard the 2001: A Space Odyssey theme playing. The lab assistants were so excited it was like fucking Christmas. Even the boss man, who is a Windows guy through and through, exclaimed "The lab is going to look so sexy!" Which is profoundly hilarious if you know the boss man.
I think I'm in love. OS X really is easy to use. I figured out how to download and install software and tweak all my systems preferences in about ten minutes. Boot Camp is also awesome--I was up and running in about two hours, including installation time for Vista, which works beautifully (ah, the irony). Now to figure out how to set a virtual machine in Vista so I can access OS X without having to reboot. I can't wait to get one of my own.
