I watched the clerk enter my information into a point-of-service web app running inside Internet Explorer. On the second screen, a window with a picture of a palm tree-studded beach appeared, interrupting him. “Damn popups,” he said, clicking the window closed.
Jebus. Now I know Cingular truly is an incompetent company. Spyware, popups, Internet Explorer, of all things? Never mind their creepy practice of gathering ridiculous amounts of information on their customers, despite the fact that the only ones I dealt with were prepaid.

Date: 2005-07-19 07:34 am (UTC)And I've dealt with Cingular reps and customer service people of all sorts. They're trained terribly, and most of them don't really give a damn about their jobs (not that I'd blame them). It's just one of the symptoms of a terribly-run company that, if there were any justice in the world, would have tanked a long time ago.
Not that I'm like bitter or anything.
