I am now $377.75 poorer after having finally registered my car in Washington (sales tax should not apply to cars bought in Oregon, dammit). Now don't you tell me the poor and middle class doesn't disproportionately shoulder the tax burden in this country, because unlike Canada, we don't get GST refunds. Of course, I suppose we can now start deducting state sales tax on our federal tax returns, thanks to Georgie's tax reform. It may be the only sensible thing he's ever done in regards to that. Hmm. Apparently I'm getting ready for my macroeconomics class early.

Sorta-celebrity encounter today: Cody and I went to Montego Bay for lunch, which I highly recommend. They have these things made out of cornbread that are kind of like a cross between fry bread and hush puppies that are so fucking GOOD it's incredible, and everything is just top notch and not that expensive if you go for lunch. And they have curried goat. But anyways. So the guy who brings us our food comes up and asks us if we listen to hip hop, and he shows us this CD. And it is the one and only Madgestiq. I love the fact that everybody in this town is in a band or knows at least five people who are.

The last bit of this Mimi Smartypants entry reminds me that all ethnic cuisine is really the same, underneath it all.
