Religion Definition
are you mono or polytheistic?Bah.
do you subscribe to a major religion?I do not. Naturalistic pantheism is the closest I would come to having a religious belief.
how do you feel about Jesus? He's a pretty cool guy. His followers could do to heed all of his teachings, not just pick and choose what sounds best to them, but that is a fault of all religions. I do not believe he was the son of God, but he had some very sensible ideas.
what holy book do you feel is most accurate (Bible, Koran, etc)Let me tell you what the Sufis say: when one truly sees the face of God, there is no religion, no sect, no one (there are many truths, after all) true holy book, only common humanity.
do you believe in reincarnation? No. It seems monstrously unfair to blame your current suffering on something you had no control over in this life.
do you believe in the traditional heaven and hell? Not really.
do you believe in ANY heaven and/or hell?I don't know, honestly.
do you think the god(s) are vengeful or nice?I think the concept of "god" is too large to be summed up in such tiny, human concepts.
do you believe in angels?No.
do you believe in miracles? If you can call preternaturally good luck miracles, yes.
do you believe in predestination? This question makes my head hurt.
do you believe in original sin?No. Curious how this has made its way into traditional dogma, especially when it is mentioned nowhere in the Bible (which is a flawed enough document as is).
do you believe in freedom of will?I have to. Otherwise the world is just too depressing.
do you believe in souls?I guess.
what do you think will happen to you when you die?My body will return to that from whence I came. The rest of me? I haven't a freaking clue.
do you think there will be an armageddon?Eventually. But not like LaHaye and Jenkins describe.
why do you think we exist? To learn, to think, to enjoy, laugh, and love.
do you believe in life on other planets?Yes.
do you believe in evolution?Yes. Every time I hear some Creationist insist that evolution is a sad crass way to have come about, I have to wonder about their knowledge of science in general. You don't think it's an act of God that we could evolve from primordial sludge to what we are today?
do you think religion and science will always oppose the other?Science and religion are just different ways of explaining the same things. I wish both sides would realize this.
what would you say to God if you met him/her/them today? What's the point of it all? What's my calling in life? Does it get better for us?
anything else we should know? The incredible complexity of it all moves me to tears sometimes, and I refuse to believe that this *does expansive gestures indicating the world* was all by chance.
