I got back from Fahrenheit 9/11. It was good, but in that sort of traumatizing way where you need to go out for ice cream afterwards.

For those of you who worry that it will be like Bowling for Columbine, fear not. Michael Moore does not accost any elderly celebrities with pictures of soldiers younger than I am who died in the war, but he does try and get congresspeople to volunteer their children for the war in Iraq. It is, for Moore, a much more nuanced and thoughtful piece than he's ever done. Is it biased? Hell yes. Is this necessarily a bad thing? Well, if you're a member of the Republican party, yeah. There's this one part where Bush is addressing a fundraiser, and he says "Well, here we have the haves and the have-mores." I think that was worth the price of admission alone. There's parts that are absolutely devastating and horrible, like the part in the beginning where all of the African-American Representatives are trying to file protests about the disenfranchisement of their constituents in the 2000 elections, and they need the backing of one senator to register their complaints, or whatever, and not a Senator stands up to help them. Not. a. single. one. And the Democrats let it happen. And it was awful to behold, and there were tears running down my face that something like this could happen in America., and there are parts that are awful and funny because they are so awful. You need to go see this, and you need to take along anybody who's considering voting for Bush. And then, you need to register to vote. I apologise for belaboring this, but there's no fucking point in bitching and moaning about the government if you don't do what you can to help change it.
