I read some article in Newsweek about her a couple months ago and all it could focus on was the fact that she tends to speak her mind, and how it could be a liability in this race. And the only pictures of her accompanying the article (except for one where she's talking to Kerry) show her in domestic poses--in the garden, talking on the phone in the kitchen, and it just fucking pisses me off. You're talking about a woman who manages about a bazillion dollars in philanthropic trusts, and does it well, who considered taking her first husband's place in the Senate when he died in a plane crash, but can still connect to women of all backgrounds, and all Newsweek can think about is making her look suitably tamed and domestic? Jesus Christ. You'd think by now America would have gotten over their Freudian hangups to not be threatened by strong women, but apparently not. (Sometimes I wish I could ask Laura Bush what she really thinks about things her husband does, because a woman who has so many Democratic friends cannot be completely okay with her husband's policies.)
Ms. Kerry in (mostly) her own words: Washington Post and KCBS interview
Her pro-environment stances, and how they may be influential if Kerry (please God) gets elected
And, she curses in five languages! How can you not like a woman who curses in five languages?
