No thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cimorene111, I am now craving new shoes. But it's not that bad, because I really do need them. It freaks me out that my feet are still growing.

I'm debating between a pair of classic Chucks (yes, I know they're not made in the U.S. anymore, but it's better than buying a pair of these pretentious motherfuckers) and a pair of Vans. Is there a difference between them? I want thick comfortable soles that absorb a lot of shock, and if they can hold up to heavy wear that would be fab.

If you want thick soles, stay far, far away from Chucks. You could feel a pea under five mattresses with those, the soles are seriously thin. But they're very cute.

Thick, comfortable soles = the exact opposite of Chucks. Don't get me wrong-- I love my Chucks. They're comfy as hell. But they have soles like TISSUE PAPER. Also, I don't think they can hold up to heavy use. The rubber cracks easily and lets stuff in, as my socks can attest. >_<
Vans seem like more solid shoes. I don't personally like the way they look, because I'm shallow that way, but I'd go for them if you want a better shoe overall.
