It's like reality TV, only real!
Feb. 24th, 2004 03:40 pmDude. This whole BoE thing? It's like reading a fucking train wreck, but I can't stop. I even remember reading a press thing in the Willy Week for Tentmoot and being all sad that I hadn't known about it in time to register. I also remember going past the Oregon Convention Center the day it was supposed to happen, and wondering why there weren't hobbitses and elves walking around like I expected. Now I know why. My heart goes out to poor
turimel and all the other people who have been dicked over by this horridness.
Also, a random observation. There's something really odd about Portland that attracts strange fringe elements like this--Tonya Harding and Shawn Eckhart (who went to my high school, incidentally), and now these two. It makes me cringe to see my fair city as the site of all this nonsense, and I wince every time I see places I've gone (I think half the city went to see the LotR movies at the Lloyd Cinemas) associated with this scam. I swear we're not all like this. We're weird, but not criminally larcenous. ^.^
