Guess who got a three day suspension from work today?

I don't care if it was (mostly) my fault, fuck the man.

Shall be going out for drinkies and pomegranite martinis with [livejournal.com profile] mydarkstar in about a half hour.

And calling the union tomorrow.

So I didn't come in on Friday, because I thought I didn't work that day. They pencilled in another shift and I said I'd work it but forgot to write it down. Totally my fault, and nothing I don't own up to. And so they weren't thrilled. I called my manager on Monday and thought everything was fine, but when I came in to work that evening they were like, "Hi. You've been suspended for three days. Come back on Sunday." Which means I'm out of a whole week's wages. The bullshit thing is, the disciplinary chain goes verbal warning (which I've already gotten), one day suspension, three day, and then the boot. I have to call the union tomorrow and see what recourse, if any, I have. The good thing is that I still have a job, the bad thing is this is not going to look good when I look for new employment in Vancouver, but nothing I can do about that now. It's complete and total bullshit, and I fucking hate this company. I want to quit right now, but that's probably not a good thing to do.

So I'm consoling myself by imagining the company headquarters blowing up in a glorious cloud of concrete dust like in Fight Club. And drinking.

I'm sorry, m'dear. May you find reprieve in the hands of your union, and comfort in the bottom of your glass of booze (and perhaps in the knowingly sympathetic smile of effortlessly metrosexual bartenders).
