Thingies stolen from the Powells e-mail newsletter:

SNOWY PORTLAND MOMENT #19
Thursday morning, rumbling down frozen Hawthorne Boulevard, the bus driver thanked us for our patience, for enduring three days of irregular service and delays in the snow and the ice. The cold, wet riders returned the gesture with a round of spontaneous applause.

The bus drivers really have been complete angels throughout last week's hellish snow. I'm sure the overtime they received was great, but they were always helpful and polite, no matter what. I heard of one driver who picked up a bunch of people at the Beaverton Transit Center who'd been waiting at the stop for two hours and drove them all out to Forest Grove, out of the goodness of his heart. Kind of warms my bitter cockles too.

Interview with Michael Palin. Interesting stoof about the travel shows (which he did a spoof of in the video Python documentary years ago), but unfortunately, no word yet on a Python reunion. Even without Graham Chapman's ashes.

"I am a largely uninteresting person."

You are hardly uninteresting.

I thank you, but I still must disagree nonetheless.
