All right. I know some of you run The Sims on XP, and it works fine. What the hell did you do to make it work? I try to click on the play button from the CD and it gives me a loading screen and then just does nothing. I've tried running it under Windows 98 and 95 compatibility mode, and nothing fricking works. Help?

I don't have XP, but I'm planning on getting it and I will want to play the Sims on it. I found this from the newsgroup, it might be helpful:

I know it's an insanely long link...I just picked it off Google groups. If I find anything more I'll comment back.

If that didn't help (I hadn 't time to read it) . . . I don't use XP, but I had a similar problem with '98 when I was using the 1024x768 mode. What I did was get the loading screen, press Ctrl-Shift-Esc. That would take me back to desktop. Then I'd click on the Sims "minimisation" (you can tell I've only had a PC since 1999) at the bottom of the screen, and ta-da! The game loads properly! Choosing 800x600 mode just made the game load normally, though. Hope this helps.
