Feb. 6th, 2003 03:09 pmFor my own information and others, alternative journal systems using Livejournal code (GPL licenses rock):
Blurty
Pro: No referrer codes, style creation and editing for free users. Apparently doesn't even have a paid account option.
Con: This might just be me, but the NAME. Gak. Also, the design takes a bit of getting used to.
Deadjournal
Pro: Umm, it's another Livejournal-type service? Great for the angestful gawth kiddles. Also allows style creation for free users.
Con: Definitely somebody's 3AM project, as
lcsbanana puts it. Too fucking snarky.
uJournal
Pro: Livejournal friends feeds via RSS for paid users. Closest to the original I can find.
Con: So fucking SLOW. Needs a server upgrade before it becomes a viable alternative.
[edit:] aboutmylife (thank you
stomach
I can't think of anything to say about it, really. It's quite...bland. They just got a new server, so hopefully that means they'll be somewhat reliable. Also probably closest to Livejournal in terms of design and execution you're going to find.
And if y'all know of any others, tell me and I'll check them out for addition to the list.
