Thankfully, the 50 most aggravating people in the U.S. list is bipartisan.

I'm reading David Brooks's Bobos in Paradise right now and I think it's more mocking than self-congratulatory, but that's probably because I'm a bobo (except for that whole money thing) in denial.

*snickers* I wouldn't exactly call Tom Clancy America's Tolstoy, but he is that long-winded.

It does read as mocking, but the last chapter, where he hopes that BoBos will get involved en masse in politics, and innoculated against the social welfare state by their high incomes, remake the world in the laid-back Republican manner Brooks enjoys, is legit. He's agitated for precisely that in subsequent articles, lectures and media appearances.
