Why I would die on the East Coast

Maybe this is just because I grew up in a place where you can walk into foofoo restaurants in jeans and sandals and nobody will bat an eye, but is this really a big deal? As long as you're not digging into the meat with your bare hands or putting ketchup on turkey (*eyes agnostic_jihad*), is it really that big a deal if he can't figure out which fork to use?
