People are MORONS. Morons morons morons. Every community I join I eventually have to unsub from because people are IDIOTS. Joss killed Tara off to give Willow a perfectly valid reason to go over the edge. It is not because she was a lesbian! Jebus freakin' Christ, people. You're basically telling me that Joss Whedon, the man who gave primetime TV its first really compassionate look at non-stereotypical lesbians (Granted, I still have issues; they're still white and young and would not be out of place in a girl/girl porn marketed to hetero men. But you do the best within the constraints of a lily-white Buffyverse) killed a character off because she was gay. *hand, forehead*

And why should it be any different (i.e. keeping the happy couple together) because Willow and Tara were a lesbian couple? Name one pairing in the Buffyverse that hasn't had their relationship splinter and crack spectacularly and I'll give you a brain freezy. Being gay does not privilege anybody in this world, and any Buffy fan should know that Joss doesn't keep characters around just because he likes them.

I think what brasses me off most about this whole stupid hullyboo is that there is this almost obsessive desire to see homophobia where there isn't any. "You people" is a rather vague term; I think it addresses everybody, homo and hetero, who are whinging about Tara's death. And don't give me that qualifier "I'm queer and therefore I should know what homophobia is." I'm straight and I know what homophobia is too! Good for me. Queerness is not an automatic defense against idiocy and an overly PC attitude, as seems to be the case of the moderator of the community. Shani is right, "Maybe if there were teams of people who did that with everything, and made a joke of it, the oversensitive ones would have to learn how to *deal* with people not agreeing on everything." A slavish adherence to what you deem is right and not allowing other people's viewpoints is behaving in the exact same manner as the homophobes in the world, and sometimes I wish people would just get it through their thick little skulls.
