I just finished watching Election, which is probably the only intelligent movie MTV Films has ever put out. I was quite impressed.

But here's what I'm thinking about. If this movie is supposed to be a microcosm of our society, what does it say about it that the nicest guy (or, the only nice guy) in the movie is dumb as a brick?

Probably because those who are good in nature are easiest to prey upon by those who are not quite so good in nature. Because they are good, they trust, and that trust can be exploited. And when surrounded by the not so good, the good wind up playing the part of fools more often than not.
