Mar. 6th, 2002 11:01 amFor the past week, there have been these cryptic envelopes hanging over campus. "Paper or Plastic?" they say, with tiny words in the corner admitting to their sanctioning by the PSU School of Business. More flyers have been posted, along with signs staked in the dirt describing the credit report cards of "Anita Future" and "Les Foresight." All of them bear the Citigroup umbrella logo.
It really angers me that the school of business (!!) would be so low as to whore themselves out to this corporation. It doesn't matter whether or not they've invested in private prisons or if they're allied with the POS franchising operation that runs the school cafeteria (which fought to block a union of their employees, and still managed to circumvent any gains the union made), there shouldn't be any need for the school of business to devote so much time and resources to helping promote a company that is quite capable of doing so itself. I bet you anything this seminar on "credit education" is nothing more than another way to get college students to sign up for more credit cards. I could have sworn these were the people the student union was trying to throw off campus. Apparently not.
They're offering up a DVD player at this thing. If I win it, I'm going to auction it off and give the proceeds to a foundation that gives microloans to people in third world countries. That'll show the bastards. ^.^
