I am who I am who am I (intro post)
Dec. 11th, 2018 09:16 pmSo apparently we're all making intro posts now?
1. I have been in fandom since 1995? 6? starting with the AOL X-Files message boards. I am 36 now. So I am a Fandom Old of the Oregon Trail generation. I feel like this is important context given my interests in Internet Stuff, digital/information literacy, and responsible uses of tech.
1a. My life, as I remember it through fandoms: X-Files, BtVS, ASoUE, Harry Potter, Children of Dune, LotR, Supernatural, Doctor Who/Torchwood, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Welcome to Night Vale, Hamilton, Critical Role.
1b. Star Wars is my forever fandom and the prequels broke my goddamn heart for about a decade. It took Tumblr doing transformative work re-imagining the prequels for me to make my peace with them. The Force Awakens felt like getting a part of my soul back that I didn't realize I was missing. I think The Last Jedi is necessary for the continuation of the franchise, however flawed it is. I need to figure out what dark lord to sacrifice to so JJ Abrams sticks a ending once in his goddamn fucking life.
2. I didn't really start writing fic in earnest until 2013, because I didn't feel like I had much to say. I don't really enjoy the process (thinking about it is so much easier!) but getting the story out feels more important than my dislike of it. It's also been difficult since the lovely one-two punch of my grandma passing away a couple years ago and then the whole political situation. I feel like I've had to claw my way back to writing, and it's been difficult.
2a. You might know me from: Jacket!fic. That really silly Cullen/Dorian story where they rescue a kitten. The first (of four, sigh) Peter/MJ/Shuri fic on AO3.
3. A sampling of OTPs/3s throughout the years, some of which may be current: Shepard/Garrus, Steve/Sam/Bucky, Han/Leia, Steve/Peggy, Finn/Poe/Rey(/Rose), Nine/Rose/Jack (do not speak to me of Ten/Rose), Eleven/Amy/Rory.
3b. I considered putting Keith/Shiro on the list but I have not decided whether it's more that or Shiro/a fucking day off, or possibly Shiro/happiness.
4. I have two masters degrees: one in library and information science and one in public administration. I consider myself ethnically librarian even though I don't work in a library. That particular outlook influences my approach to my work and my ethics, and I am proud to be part of a professional tradition that has historically championed intellectual freedom and access even when it has not been popular.
5. Tickyboxes: Chinese-American (first generation). Bi/Queer. Cis.

1b. I totally feel you on this.
3b. I'd love to read Keith/Shiro fic. Doctor Who also.
