Dear Yuletide author

So. Hello. Thanks for doing this. I’m always delighted when people take time to consider anything I want when writing fics, so I’m sure whatever you write I’m going to love. But if you need something more concrete to work with (as I do), please feel free to look below.
You probably don’t know me. Here are places you can find me:
I hang out mostly on Tumblr and Twitter. I have an AO3 at pearwaldorf , and this is some fic that I have read and liked.
Things I love in fic, in no particular order
Female-centric (although as long as your characterization is true I won’t care who you focus on)
Friendship/genuine regard between characters, especially when they’ve clashed in the past
Friends/lovers hanging out
As a corollary to the previous two points, hurt/comfort
People finding their way in the world, especially after something bad has happened
Found families
OT3s/poly relationships and negotiations surrounding such
Worldbuilding of all sorts (give me specific details of the nerd-ass thing you’ve always wanted to explore about the work!)
Comedies of manners
Banter/snark
Fake relationships/forced intimacy, especially when feelings make it awkward
Pining
In general, I prefer established relationships to getting together fics. There is a lot of depth and exploration that I think gets missed when people focus on getting people together.
I really love attempts at connection and understanding, both of self and other characters, especially when they succeed.
I am agnostic on explicit sex/porn. Don’t write it if it makes you uncomfortable, but I’m certainly not going to be sad if it’s there.
Please do not feel obligated to make your fic holiday themed. If you think it will add to the story, great!
Do not want
Hamilton
Character(s): Angelica Schuyler, Alexander Hamilton
Give me all the Angelica, basically. I am so tantalized by what we see of her in the show, and I want more, especially as regards her relationship with Alexander. It doesn’t even need to be romantic, although if you went there I’d certainly not mind. (What if Eliza had said “yes” to sharing?) But also I want to see how she interacts with her sisters. She obviously adores and is very protective of Eliza, but what about Peggy? How does she reconcile her feelings about Alexander’s affair when Eliza reaches out to her after his death?
Alternately, tell me about Alexander’s relationship with his male friends. That time he and Laurens had to cuddle for warmth in Valley Forge. (And had super hot/guilty makeouts, idk.) How Mulligan designed the outfits for his regiment, because Alexander was a dandy and a bit of a fop. That time he and Lafayette got drunk and bitched about anti-immigrant sentiment, which was dumb because pretty much everybody in the former colonies was born elsewhere.
OR, if you’re feeling particularly indulgent/ridiculous, the Sleepy Hollow crossover where Ichabod and Abbie get sent back in time and Abbie helps Laurens pull off forming the first black battalion. I would give you so many internet dollars if you did this.
Dishonored
Character: Emily Kaldwin
Emily is such a focal character in the game (Corvo does so much with her in mind), but we don’t see her very much, compared to him or Daud. Emily the Wise is lovely, but I am most intrigued by a High Chaos Emily. What does Corvo teach her when she ascends the throne, how to keep herself safe? How does she deal with her enemies? What do the people who have known her since the Hounds Pit think of these changes in her? Does Corvo ever show her The Heart? What interest does The Outsider take in her now that she’s positioning herself as an agent of change? How does Corvo feel about that?
Alternately, tell me about The Outsider and Corvo’s relationship now that he’s ceased to be quite as active in reshaping the world. Does Corvo get bored, or is he content to be Regent? Does The Outsider create opportunities for Corvo to go back to his old role, and what does Corvo think about that?
I have not played/watched The Knife of Dunwall or Brigmore Witches yet, although I will have by the time stories go up. That is the only reason I haven’t mentioned anything from those parts of the story. If you feel a burning need to write a story about Delilah Copperspoon or Cecilia, I won’t stop you. I am also open to speculation about the new game, or anything in between.
Fresh Off the Boat
Character: Jessica Huang
I really like the friendship between Honey and Jessica on the show, and I want to see more of that. Maybe Honey does another thing the Stepford ladies in the neighborhood don’t like, and Jessica gets back at them. Or they go to the mall together and there’s an epic clash of cultures. I like to think that Honey’s place is a refuge from Louis and the boys, and that it’s good for Jessica to have somebody who she can be a person with, not just a wife or mom.
But to be honest, I’d be happy if you wrote anything at all for this fandom. The situation is dire.
I hope you have fun writing, and I eagerly look forward to your story!
