pearwaldorfFor somebody who is a cynic about many things, presidential elections always give me this misguided hope, that maybe, this time, things will turn out for the better. starstealingirl bawling on my couch once the results started rolling in.) I've been rooting for Edwards since he announced his candidacy, but was quietly resigning myself to a Hillary nomination. But Obama won! And she placed third! Granted, third only by a smidgen behind Edwards, but that's better than I was expecting. Cody snarks that we have the chance to elect either a woman or a black man for president for the first time in history, but our only choices are Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. I never thought I would end up rooting for the white guy in a situation like this, but I am. It amuses me a bit, but is a tad depressing too.
[edit:] Whatever else I may say about Obama, I have to say he's a damn fine orator. Not speechifier, orator. Also, I love this picture. Can we just have him give all the speeches and Edwards do all the governing?
