Dear University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Library School,

You are the coolest library science program ever. And not just because you offer a degree in Bio(logical )Informatics. But I would not move to Illinois, so I guess the iSchool is lucky to have me. *snerk*

I still like you a lot though.

Kisses,
Me

UNC shelled out several thousands of dollars to purchase an "island" in Second Life, to develop for further research in virtual librarianship and education.
It might be awesome and stuff, but...a part of me died a little inside. I mean, thousands of bucks. For some pixels in a game. Wow.

I had no idea the Linden dollar was worth so much nowadays. Wow.

Second Life is kind of weird. In some ways, it's really awesome, an actual virtual world finally. In other ways, it's very strange and sad. Warren Ellis writes columns for Reuters about Second Life, and it seems to be much like I would picture a libertarian anarchist utopian whatsis, with all the drawbacks they contain.
