May. 7th, 2012 04:47 pmAVENGERS AVENGERS OMGGGGG!!!! A world in which Joss Whedon gets to write Tony Stark dialogue snark is a good one, but it is an even better one when that is not the best part of the movie by far.
But to get this out of the way first, I am, shall we say, displeased that Black Widow is getting a lot of shit for various combinations of being
1. a woman
2. kickass
3. competent
4. pretty
5. all of the above
and hearing that coming from people of both sexes (idk what it is, but it feels like fandom's internalized misogyny is rearing its head more and more) is very disheartening. I was super-worried from the initial scene with the chair and the wee little guns in the trailer, but I SHOULD HAVE TRUSTED YOU JOSS BECAUSE SHE WAS AMAZING. So people, cut that out. To remedy that unpleasantness, I suggest you read this post by

Like, I knew was going to go into this squeeing like hell, but the degree to which I love this movie is ridiculous. It hits all the Whedon tropes I love: the snarky dialogue, kickass female leads, the ways characters negotiate interpersonal relationships and become stronger because of them. There will probably be actual thoughts later, but for now, OMGGGGGGGG.
Also I am now completely in love with Tom Hiddleston, and not just because I found out he was ginger and studied at Cambridge. I'M LATE TO THE PARTY I KNOW, BUT I'M HERE NOW.
