This group is for fans of both Harry Potter and George Bush.

Its a place to talk about how many of the characters in the books, and many of the plotlines go along with many of the decisions and policies of George Bush.

Did they read the same Harry Potter books I did? 'Cause I don't think the Ministry of Magic was the good people they think they are. At least that's what I think the community is all about--there's very little HP discussion, just a lot of Kerry and Michael Moore bashing. *shakes head and goes back to packing for Canada*

Hmm. I notice none of them can type.

I'm not a big HP fan, but is there something conservative about them? I never thought so, what with all the slash and all.

I've never thought of the books as particularly conservative, what with the way the Ministry of Magic is characterized and all. But it could just be an ideological perception. And I sincerely doubt that Rowling is conservative--not like American batshit conservative. Personally? I think they're all on crack.

I don't know, one of my pet theories is that Harry is probably quite conservative in the strict meaning of the word, and I do think the WW in general is.

That said, that community scares me a lot. They do realise that Republicans For Voldemort is a joke, right?

Who knows. A blog written by a liberal Christian that I read posits that the reason fundie Christians (ergo, Republicans, but Republicans are not always fundie Christians) prefer their readings straightforward and literal is because they have no sense of metaphor beyond parable/allegory, and I would venture to say, a sense of humor or irony.

Thought re: Moore-bashing in general: I think a lot of the really right-wingers just cannot comprehend that just because one likes Moore doesn't mean we take every word he says at face value. Questioning people is probably a foreign concept to them.
