Have I ever mentioned that Qwest techs happen to be the biggest fucking idiots in the WORLD? ([livejournal.com profile] mydarkstar excepted) I mean, they get no training at all, but you'd think they'd at least have a couple brain cells to rub together. So I place an order for DSL, and I tell the tech what kind of modem I had. You'd think he could have told me, oh, two months ago Qwest migrated to new configurations that aren't compatible with your old modem. Get a new one. But noooo, I spend an hour twiddling with the settings and Googling and getting ready to crack my old modem open, before I find this out.

Hate hate hate rage rage rage hate hate hate. Whoever said privatization of utilities was a good thing never had to live with one. And now, I throw the old modem in the trash and seethe like there's no tomorrow.

Dude, same thing happened to me a year and a half ago. My ISP upgraded their system so my modem was no long compatible, and completely failed to tell me. I called them every day for a WEEK before they finally asked what kind of modem I had, and realised that it was outdated.

So I totally feel your pain. ugh.

Yeah, same exact thing happened to me a few months ago. I have an old Cisco 675 router sitting around. What aggravates me is that there was no sign from Qwest that it was no longer compatible with their DSL network. Hell, there's even CBOS support information (http://www.qwest.com/dsl/customerservice/csco675ups.html) from Qwest.

And the new Actiontec modem really sucks. I haven't been able to get DMZ and port forwarding to work.

Bottom line, Qwest sucks. I wish I was in Verizon DSL's coverage area.
