So [livejournal.com profile] mydarkstar and I went to Lloyd Center after Sushi Takahashi to go see Hidalgo, which she'd snagged a pass for at work. There was this big fucking line, and we assumed it was for The Passion of Christ (which is apparently a Christian snuff film according to every review I've read). They were brushing people down with those wand metal detectors and we were like, "Dood. Maybe they'll let us in at the front of the line since we're going to see the horse movie." And the ticket lady told us to get to the back of the line, since that was indeed for Hidalgo. We asked another girl in the line, and she confirmed this. What was really funny was that there was a Channel 8 van outside commenting on the hullyboo. I wonder what he said the line was for.

So, yes. The attraction of a free Viggo Mortensen horse movie is more interesting than Mel Gibson's overblown ego to Portlanders, apparently. Not that I blame them.

I actually didn't get to see it. The line was snaking around the back of the theater, and we wouldn't have gotten in anyways even if we had waited. Teh sad.
