pearwaldorfWent to the library and picked up book on hold, The Tightwad Gazette by a Woman Who Married A Man of Ukranian Ancestry and It Shows. Book is interesting enough, I suppose, but some things in it make me want to shake my head and go "Dood lady, you are SO a stay at home mom." I also dislike her obvious disdain for the career mom, the veiled snipes and the general tone of the text when she discusses them. I mean, I'm sure it's cheaper to stay at home and raise your six brats, but that is presuming one has the time to wash reams of cloth diapers and wash plastic baggies for reuse. I find the book more useful as a kick in the ass to be more thrifty than anything else it actually has to say.
Am having way too much fun with my phone, despite the fact that it is so fucking tiny. It fits in the palm of my hand, and I have tiny hands. Consequently because of its size, I find myself jabbing at the keys like a ham-fisted ape, a feeling that is entirely novel.
As for the whole PDA situation, it turns out that the one I have doesn't, y'know, actually work because I think it's been left idle for so long. My suspicion is that the battery is completely hosed, and to replace it would be more trouble than it's worth, as the morons at Palm decided a screwless approach was the way to go. To actually take apart the PDA one needs to use a hair dryer to heat the glue holding it together and take it apart that way. Yes, boys and girls, your illustrious Palm V PDA is held together with fucking GLUE. It has microcircuitry and batteries in it, but it's held together with nothing more advanced than horse hooves and gelatin. My inner Tyler Durden is ecstatic with schaudenfreude.
