This pisses me off more than I can articulate. I did a quick search on Addall for my sociology text, which costs like 85 dollars list. The cheapest new editions I can find are all being sold by Blackwell's UK or Amazon.co.uk. Even with international shipping (which is not always the case, as Blackwell's has distribution warehouses in America), they're cheaper than buying them at the bookstore. This is fucking ridiculous. There's no reason an American student should have to pay more to the textbook companies, especially when the cost of tuition is skyrocketing so badly some states have had to stop enrollment in their prepaid tuition plans. And do also keep in mind that tuition at Oxford for a British resident is less than $2000 a term (but there is the whole issue of getting in), and have no-interest loans available to help with the rest of their schooling expenses. (No, I'm not bitter. Why do you ask?) Okay, going to go eat some cereal before I fume any more about the stupidity of non-subsidized education in this country.
