Oct. 18th, 2003 11:51 amAlso, inspired by a mefi discussion: people who espouse libertarian economics should realize that they are voting for child labor, 7-day work weeks, violent punishment for union participation, dangerous machinery that kills workers, and assorted other nineteenth century goodness that has and assuredly will come about when you don't force big powerful corporations to regulate themselves.
It's happening already. I'm glad that my state has all those crazy progressive types as well as enough (real, not shrieky Coulter/Limbaugh types) conservatives that shriek bloody murder every time a Wal-Mart decides to try and move in on the suburban outskirts. We still have em, but not as many as we could.
