I watched My Wife is Gangster tonight. (Oh dear sweet god there's a sequel) Very much convinced that Koreans cannot make a happy movie to save their lives, but that doesn't matter because everybody in their movies dies anyways. It really is a sweet and funny movie, interspersed with kickass knife fighting action. It also has the cutest dykey (well she would be if she had a queer-type context to put herself in) actress in it. If I knew more about Korean gender relations I'm sure it would be making more cogent commentary, but all I know is that Confucianism is even more ingrained there than in China. That may or may not tell me all I need to know, depending on how much things have changed. 's a good movie. You should see it if you can track it down.
