Jul. 11th, 2003 05:08 pmAngel Sanctuary fans (I know you're out there somewhere), questions for you. If I wanted to get all the pretty shiny artwork I've seen floating around on the Internet, what would I get, and where would I get it, preferably without selling my kidneys? Also, is the manga available in translation (I don't think it is, but thought I might ask anyways)?

Date: 2003-07-11 05:19 pm (UTC)If you want the art, there are two artbooks - Angel Cage, IIRC, and another I can't remember. It depends on how you define kidney; they'll normally cost you around $25-30 a piece, including shipping if you go that route; I got mine at Shoujocon, two years ago, in person, so it was cheaper. Sasuga does have them, last I checked, and they're fairly good (sasugabooks.com). Alternately, you might be able to find them used on eBay.
No translations, unless you happen to speak French; in which case they're available from Renaud-Brey. Also in German, I think.
There are text translations, of which Remiel's are the best, and (*hiss, spit*) scanlations.
Warning: the manga is not as gay as one would think, the one really /good/ slash pairing (Raphael/Michael) does not get written very much (at least back when I was trying to encourage the fandom in that direction), and there isn't much fic for it at all, and no community; so unless you /really really/ have a thing for weird angelpr0n and/or wanky takes on Judaeo-Christianity, it's probably skippable.
(But, note, I am prejudiced: AS was my first manga fandom, and I am wholey and forever disappointed by it.)

Curses. Looking at the art, one would presume there would be scads and scads of yaoi doujinshi and fanfic.

Just like Inuyasha. *sigh* Well, any community I'd be willing to associate with (the
