Holy god. I just spent 220 dollars on textbooks.

When the revolution comes, the textbook manufacturers will be the first to go.

One of the things I loved best was discovering that if a textbook (say, for a freshman-level course) was also sold to high schools, the edition sold to the schools was better made than the college-level edition, and generally not more expensive (and sometimes quite a bit cheaper). Because, of course, a high school has to make a book last 5-7 years, minimum, and a college student only uses it one semester, supposedly (and they want to lower the resale value, of course).

Which explains why my $85 Restoration lit book (and these were 1988 dollars, god knows what it'd cost now) fell apart a month into the semester.
