sashiko needles: some remarks
Aug. 2nd, 2022 02:59 pmI can't get into my craft journal and I can't be arsed to figure it out right now, so it's going here.
I just want to state you absolutely do not need sashiko needles to do sashiko. Sturdy embroidery needles (chenille or milliners) are more than sufficient.
That being said, there are a couple kinds of sashiko needles I have found useful to keep around. I like fairly long needles, so you can jam a whole bunch of stitches on it at once. My favorite are the ones by Daruma, although the Clover and Lecien Hidamari ones are perfectly fine too. There's just something about the way the Darumas feel that makes me reach for them first.
The Tulip large eye thin size are the other ones I would keep around. They're really long (2 in!) and a smidge thinner than a normal sashiko needle.
