Oh, university bureaucracy, I kind of hate you. Thanks for telling me that when my appointment changes from a temporary to student worker, the hours cut also takes effect immediately! Not that I won't enjoy my two days off, but it would have been nice to have been warned.

Because you've always wanted a picture of James "Robert Jordan" Rigney dressed like a pirate. I know I have. If you hadn't heard, he passed away a few days ago. I had a lot of problems with the books, namely his characterizations of female protagonists, the fact that Rand was a total Marty Stu (dood! he had three girls in love with him! at the same time!), and his insane fondness for describing how women in power fold their shawls, but I did like the ambitiously epic scope of the Wheel of Time before the weight of it all collapsed in on itself about two thirds of the way through. It's a shame--I was really hoping he'd finish it before he died.
