[PSA] By no means should you EVER buy a can of Wild Oats' Dr. Wild hoping that it will be an all-natural version of the wonderful blessedness that is Dr. Pepper. It ain't gonna happen. It just tastes like really asstastic grape soda, which is probably what it would look like if I poured it into a glass. [/PSA]

And Portlanders, that is not me in the Mercury letters page, in case you were wondering, but I heartily word [as in verb, not noun] the sentiments in that letter. Maybe I should start carrying mace and garden shears on the bus now too.

Judging by the reactions on my friends list, I must be the only person, even as a child, who found Mr. Rogers more than a tiny bit disturbing. He was just so... calm. And wholesome. And smiley. But between him and the Teletubbies, I'd pick Mr. Rogers every time.

I'm only twenty, and I feel old. That isn't right.

*feeling all chagrined and dumb now*

Okay. So Mr. Rogers never did much for me as a child, but I shouldn't discount what he did for other people.

Two articles about Wal-Mart, both from vastly different perspectives, but touch on the same issues, really. It's strange that Fortune would call Wal-Mart its most admired company when it admits in the very same article that Wal-Mart is pricing out huge companies (Proctor and Gamble, Toys R Us) that Fortune covers and the owners probably have tons of money invested in.

What struck me was reallly how both articles talk about Wal-Mart's price cutting strategies, and how they both end up (to me anyways) seeming like a race to the bottom with Wal-Mart holding the strings. Living in a major metropolitan area, I don't fear it happening anytime soon, but I ache for the little towns in America that have no other place to shop, because they've all been priced out of existence.

Anti-war spots on MTV Germany from your favorite artistes

I just wish they were brave enough to air these things on American MTV. Not that most American teenagers would give a shit.

Random: I saw a sticker on some guy's backpack in the library that said "Sedition is not the answer. Support military action." I wanted to take that sticker and stuff it down his throat until he choked. I really don't give a shit whether or not he supports military action, but the implication that not marching in step with (as Tori calls them) They Who Are They is even remotely close to treason makes me furious. I guess I do need to get one of those damn "Dissent is patriotic" buttons.
