Was downtown for most of the day, due to cravings for dim sum and movies. Picked up Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy and saw Adaptation (a very strange meta-ish postmodern movie, which is delightful and funny and wonderful in many ways) while attempting to avoid the war protestors wending their way around the transit mall and the Park Blocks.

I found it incredibly sad that the self-styled progressives had to hold their own fucking procession to the Federal Building instead of joining up with the soccer moms and whoever else was protesting (I believe they were expecting about 10000 people [edit: HOLY FUCKING SHIT 20000 showed up. No wonder the buses were so crowded]). I think it's sad that they feel the need to separate themselves for whatever reasons they have, instead of being pleased that so many people actually showed up and agreed with something that I was certain was an unpopular position. I mean, 200000 in Washington D.C.! I wasn't aware people (who don't consider themselves progressives) still got off their asses to protest. It's not enough to affect real change, but it's a start.

I had more to say, but it's late. G'night.

Duuuude.

I always thought those Christians who patronized faith-based phone companies and did all their business at Christian-based businesses (off the top of my head: Our Shepherd accounting services, Our Daily Bread bakery) were not only crazy, but greatly inconvenienced. But I guess I was wrong.

You, my dear, need to get online sometime when I am. We haven't talked much at all.
