Many apologies to Zar, who I have been boring with my observations about eBay idiocy and people dumb enough to buy acoustic guitars for $20. (If I had a digital camera I'd do the blog thing, but I don't. So send me one. *grin*) I don't know why I've suddenly decided that NOW I will actually learn how to play the guitar, considering that I have no money to get one and my sight-reading skill is practically non-existent. I suppose I need something else to occupy my time while I wait to go back to school.

I suppose one of those ways is to start working my way through the Foreign section at Clinton Street Video, a lovely little shop with very little mainstream (read: shitty Hollywood dreck) stuff, but plenty of weird coolness, like the uncut Hong Kong version of Iron Monkey, with terrible white subtitles and translators who don't know what prepositions are. Watching the movie again, it's just so easy to dismiss the fact that people don't really fly on rooftops like that (would be nice though; although I shudder to think of how commuting would be like, with people running willy-nilly across the bridges), and wish that there was that type of beauty and grace in the simplest of everyday movement. The silken sleeves of deth!! I could do without though.

And a warning. Stay away from Iron Monkey 2. It in no way resembles the original, except that it has Yuen Wo-Ping in it. This is a bad BAD movie. I don't mean like poke fun at it bad, I mean, roll up in ball, whimper, and gouge eyes out bad. This movie should be used to torture al-Qaeda members and show them what hell is like. So please stay away from it. </public service announcement>
