Despite being in the nosebleeds of the nosebleeds (I could see the ceiling tiles), the shit-ass acoustics of a place that was meant to be a sports arena, and the myriads of frat boys, it was not a bad concert.

They played Pig! They never play this! (At least I never heard it on the last tour I saw) And it was a beautiful jam at the end.

Where Are You Going is a pretty song. It reminds me a lot of Crash Into Me, that pretty serenade-type song Dave does so well. (Thus lending credence to Ryan's postulation that the guys are there at the Dave concerts because the ladies love Dave. But he's a sexy bitch. What's not to love? ;) And I won't worry about it being overplayed because I don't listen to the radio anymore.

Too Much is always a good song to play. It's got a dirty little guitar groove that makes everybody want to get up and dance.

There was a sweet jam at the end of Jimi Thing. Fuckin' inspired, and the best one of the night.

Busted Stuff: "the monkey should stay up his fuckin' tree." Crowd goes wild. I was amused.

Roi, the sax player, was on his game tonight. The pennywhistle/flute thing... that was really cool. And Carter Beauford... the pope is going to make him the patron saint of drumming when he dies (Carter, not the pope). Excellent excellent work, and tight grooves by everybody.

Dave did this really awesome intro to What You Are, which was really more just wordless wailing that gave me goosebumps. In contrast to the rest of the instrumentalization, it was just Dave and Carter providing a bit of background. Stark, almost eerie, beautiful.

Stefan did a Star-Spangled Banner into a Nirvana song (I think it was Teen Spirit) to Watchtower. He fucking rocks too, and so does the guitarist from Soulive. It was a nice Watchtower, but to be perfectly honest, I've heard better. Regardless, it was an excellent show.
