Poutine! or, an American is amused by Quebecois cuisine

Quick! Non-Canadians, do you know what poutine is? No, I didn't either. Now that I've read the description of it, it sounds kinda white trashy, not exactly something I would picture the Frenchies eating. And despite the fact that it sounds kinda gross, I want to try and make it.
