Apr. 25th, 2022 08:24 am(I have no idea if this makes any sense at all, I've been alternating typing with ugly crying)
As you may or may not know, I lived in Vancouver, BC for a little bit. It was probably the worst time of my life. I was depressed and miserable and out of work, and thus had time to keep track of WIPs on AO3, the only time I have ever been able to do so. And I found two that were amazing, so I found the authors on Tumblr and we became friends.
And because if you're friends with a writer and they have a WIP, if you have time you engage with their updates and tell them what you liked and yell at them for being dicks about cliffhangers. And I had nothing but time.
It's been a long time since Vancouver. But we're still friends. And over the years it's become apparent they needed those comments and engagement as much as I did at the time. I'm not going to say it was the only bright spot in a terrible period. But it was one of very few. And I'm not going to say that specifically is what helped get me through. But it absolutely helped.
I don't believe in destiny or fate or whatever. But when the universe puts people in your path and it turns out you were helping pull each other through some bad shit in each other's lives without even knowing it, how do you call that anything but a blessing?
