Okay. Admit it. Just because you wanted Gore to win in 2000 doesn't mean you were enamored with his charisma and presence. (If Al Gore was president) I went and saw An Inconvenient Truth. I don't know if six years of reflection since then has mellowed him, or if he's always been this, well, likable and funny and smart. And he's totally nerdcore, which I respect deeply. The movie itself is put together incredibly well, since he's given this talk (by his count) about a thousand times. It can be scary, but sometimes the truth is. But the great thing about the movie is that it talks about how it can be fixed, and how it can be economically beneficial as well. One of the many talking points I learned in the movie is that you can't sell US cars anywhere else, because the mileage standards are so low. Even China has more stringent requirements for vehicle mileage than the US, and they're at the low end. Isn't that messed up? I’m just saying: See it. Not out of any sense of grim obligation, but because it’s entertaining, and interesting, and leaves you with that most surprising takeaway: hope.

(And if anybody can point me to a mileage standards chart by country, I would totally appreciate it. I am going crazy googling and can't find a damn thing.)
